Distribution Strategy
In line with the Marketing strategy of the company, distribution will be regarded as an independent business process and will be headed by a distribution expert backed up by an experienced team with relevant knowledge of mobile telephony distribution, penetration and retail. The distribution head will report to the board and to the Chairperson while working in tandem with the Sales & Marketing and Procurement divisions of the company.
Regions:
For the purpose of distribution, the company is looking into dividing the country in regions and thereafter, either states or operational circles in keeping with the network coverage. Logistics, distributor appetite and financial muscle power will act as the major decisive factors in choosing a state based or circle based distribution model.
Distributors:
As stated above, distributors will be appointed subject to the following terms and conditions:
* Coverage Area.
* Exclusivity clause.
* Number of captive sub-distributors, wholesale and retail outlets.
* Equitable penetration in the distribution area.
* Financial standing in terms of deposits/bank guarantees.
* Financial capability in terms of minimum committed goods off take.
* Competencies in the Sales Management.
* Full fledged Supply-Chain Management competencies in terms of warehousing, logistics & transportation and soft skills of forecasting consumption and re-fills.
The distributor will also be responsible for ensuring that the company’s Marketing Communication Strategies are exploited to the maximum. Considering the fact that Availability, Visibility and Connectivity are the three pillars of success of any brand, the distributor will also be responsible for making sure that subjects like Branding, POP and other “below the line” activities are executed to company laid out standards. In short the distributor will execute the availability and visibility component while the company will look into the connectivity part (building an emotional connect to the brand). Market Intelligence will remain the responsibility of the distributor. The company has devised unique methodologies for mapping the competitive landscape and feedback mechanism, which enables a fast turn-around time for the company to address and or counter any competitor initiated threats. The distributor will work in gathering and collating all the relevant details and pass them on to the company on a regular basis.
Return-On-Investments:
According to market research conducted by the company, it is estimated that the initial investment by a distributor will be recovered in approximately eight to nine months. This is an estimate as per the current market conditions and sales forecasts and projections of the company and does not constitute a guarantee by the company nor can it be considered legally binding on the company.
Back-Up & Support:
The company will support all distributors with complete Marketing Communication initiatives and with technical support in terms of servicing/repairing the handsets.
